It takes a keener edge than most stainless will, and it comes back on a stone in a couple of minutes rather than a session. What it asks in return is that you keep it dry and wiped with a little oil, because it will rust if you neglect it and it will take on a patina whether you like it or not.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ePeople who carry carbon steel do it on purpose. If you want a knife you never think about, this is not that knife. If you want one that records the work it has done, it is.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eThe Tanto Tip\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eA tanto puts a second, shorter edge at the front at an angle to the main one, which leaves a great deal of steel behind the point. That makes it the tip to have if you push a knife into things rather than slicing with it. On a 4 inch blade in carbon steel it is about as stout as a working tip gets.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eEpoxy and G10\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe handle is blue epoxy poured against blue and black G10.
