Note from Lone Star Knife & Supply
I’m Chris, and Gerber is one of those brands that’s been everywhere—from belt pouches in the woods to kits in military rucks. While not every Gerber is built the same, they’ve continued to evolve in a big way—especially with their USA-made Reserve line and standout fixed blades like the StrongArm.

History

Founded in 1939 in Portland, Oregon, Gerber began as a family-owned company making hand-crafted cutlery. They quickly became one of the first knife companies in the U.S. to gain widespread national recognition. Over the years, Gerber knives have been issued to U.S. troops and carried into the backcountry by generations of hunters, hikers, and survivalists.

Still headquartered in Oregon, Gerber continues to design and manufacture a range of products—from multi-tools to rescue knives—with a renewed focus on American-made quality through their Gerber Reserve program.

What They’re Known For

  • Fixed Blades for Field & Tactical Use
Models like the StrongArm, LMF II, and Ghostrike have made Gerber a trusted name among military and survival communities.

  • Gerber Reserve Program
A direct-to-consumer lineup of premium USA-made knives—like the Sedulo, Savvy, and Assert—designed, machined, and assembled in Portland.

  • Multi-Tools & Utility Gear
Gerber’s multi-tools and compact gadgets are staples in toolboxes, bug-out bags, and glove compartments around the country.

  • Affordable, Accessible EDC
While not every knife is USA-made, Gerber remains committed to offering budget-friendly options that deliver practical utility without overcomplication.

  • Military & Tactical Heritage
Trusted for decades in real-world scenarios—from desert deployments to emergency rescue—Gerber gear is known for staying functional when it matters most.

Gerber is a brand that’s evolved with the times—never straying far from its roots in practical, no-nonsense tools. Whether you need a knife for hard use, backup carry, or your next camping trip, there’s probably a Gerber that’ll get the job done.
