Greg Thompson designed the SOCP Rescue Tool for one purpose: to perform when lives are on the line. Thompson is the creator of the Special Operations Combatives Program, the official combatives program for U.S. Army Special Operations Forces. The 179GRY is his rescue-specific tool, integrating four critical capabilities into a single skeletonized 440C stainless steel platform. The Benchmade-optimized rescue hook cuts seatbelts, clothing, and cordage with a hooked geometry proven to be significantly faster than scissors in emergency extraction scenarios. The carbide glass breaker provides emergency vehicle access. The O2 wrench handles oxygen tank fittings. The finger ring provides secure retention and fast indexing. The same proven sheath design as the SOCP family ships with the tool, with a MOLLE-compatible deep-carry J-hook clip. 1.88 oz. Made in Oregon City, Oregon.
