The AD20 CXT runs a 3.25 inch Barong blade in CPM-3V on Demko's Shark-Lock. This one has smooth titanium scales. The Barong is a very different profile from the clip point AD20, with belly that widens toward the tip and weight carried forward.

The Barong Blade

A Barong is a Filipino profile, wide through the middle and tapering to a point, and it moves the weight forward. At 3.25 inches this is three quarters of an inch shorter than the AD20 XXX, but the forward weight bias means it does not feel like a smaller knife in use. It is a shape you almost never see on a modern folder, and in CPM-3V it is a capable blade rather than a novelty.

The Shark-Lock

The Shark-Lock is Demko's own mechanism and the reason people buy these. A spring loaded bar drops into a notch on the blade tang, so the lock gets stronger under load rather than weaker, and it disengages with a single motion that works the same for either hand. Demko holds the patent on it.

CPM-3V

3V is a toughness steel, not an edge retention steel. It is the one you pick when you would rather roll an edge than chip one, and it is the right choice for a forward weighted blade shape meant to be used with some force behind it.

Smooth Titanium

Plain titanium with no milling or pattern, which lets the blade shape do the talking. It is the heavier of the two CXT configurations and the more understated.

Made in the USA

Demko produces this line in New Castle, Pennsylvania. Demko also runs overseas production on other models, so it is worth saying plainly that everything we carry from them is the American made side of the catalog.

Why This One Stands Out

The CXT is not on Demko's website at all right now. We picked these up at the show, and a Barong blade on a Shark-Lock in 3V is not something you will find sitting on a shelf.
