This is Big Boss 001 from Farmer Made EDC, a 4 inch 1095 tanto with a handle in blue epoxy and blue and black G10. Travis Mayes makes these by hand in Klamath Falls, Oregon, and this is the first one he numbered.

1095 Is a Choice, Not a Compromise
1095 is a simple high carbon steel and that is the whole appeal. It takes a keener edge than most stainless will, and it comes back on a stone in a couple of minutes rather than a session. What it asks in return is that you keep it dry and wiped with a little oil, because it will rust if you neglect it and it will take on a patina whether you like it or not.
People who carry carbon steel do it on purpose. If you want a knife you never think about, this is not that knife. If you want one that records the work it has done, it is.
The Tanto Tip
A tanto puts a second, shorter edge at the front at an angle to the main one, which leaves a great deal of steel behind the point. That makes it the tip to have if you push a knife into things rather than slicing with it. On a 4 inch blade in carbon steel it is about as stout as a working tip gets.
Epoxy and G10
The handle is blue epoxy poured against blue and black G10. Every pour comes out different, so no two Farmer Made handles match and this one belongs to serial 001 alone.
A New Maker for Us
Travis Mayes works out of Klamath Falls, Oregon, and this is the first batch of his work we have carried. Five knives, all serialized, all made by hand. Finding a maker early is how you end up with the pieces people look for later.

Kydex sheath with an Ulticlip, so it mounts to a belt, a waistband, or a pocket seam without needing a loop.
