Shirt video: YouTube Short

The Great American Knife Tour™ coincided with America's 250th birthday, and this is the official tour tee. Four American hands touched it before it got to you. The blank is a Common Uniform Mock Neck, 100% cotton sewn in the USA. The design came from a graphic designer in Oklahoma who supports the channel on Patreon. The screen printing was done by Robot Monster in Denton, Texas, about forty minutes from our shop. All of it to celebrate knives made in this country.

When you buy this shirt, you are directly supporting a road trip across America to visit the small shops, the one-person operations, and the family businesses that are keeping American knife making alive. Every stop on the tour is a maker who builds by hand in the USA. The shirt is how you come along for the ride.

About the Blank

We did not pick a cheap shirt and mark it up. This is a Common Uniform Mock Neck, which runs $44 as a plain blank before anything is printed on it.

It is 300 GSM, which is 8.85 ounces of cotton. For comparison, a standard tee runs around 145 to 180 GSM, so this is roughly double the fabric. It is heavy in the way a shirt you keep for ten years is heavy.

The mock neck collar is the other thing you will notice. It sits higher and is built sturdier than a standard crew, which is why it does not sag into a bacon neck after a few washes.

Garment Dyed, So It Will Not Shrink

These are sewn as white blanks and then dyed by the batch, which is backwards from how most shirts are made and the reason Common Uniform can guarantee zero shrink. The shirts are pre-washed at 180 degrees before they ever ship. They also come out of the dye bath already feeling broken in rather than stiff.

One thing worth knowing up front: the dye process destroys neck and care labels, so there is no tag inside the collar. That is not a knock-off or a blem. It is what garment dyeing does, and it is also why the shirt is more comfortable at the neck than a tagged one.

Limited, and Then They Are Gone

This run is what we could get. When these sell out we are moving to a print on demand shirt so the design stays available. Those will be good shirts. They will not be this shirt. If you want the heavyweight American sewn version, this is the only run of it.

Note from Lone Star Knife & Supply: The Great American Knife Tour™ is the most ambitious thing we have done since founding LSKS. This shirt is the most direct way to be part of it. Every purchase goes toward making the tour happen and spreading the word about American manufacturing. Thank you for being part of this.

Why You'll Want It

The Great American Knife Tour™ exists to shine a light on the American makers who are still building things with their hands in small shops across the country. A shirt about American manufacturing ought to be made in America, cotton to collar to ink. This one is.
