A hand-ground S45VN flipper with zirconium accents, from a small North Carolina shop.

The Bikkhu is Hypercut MFG's titanium frame lock flipper, machined by Dylan and his crew in Mills River, North Carolina. This one, serial 0192, runs a CPM-S45VN blade in a titanium frame with gray Fat Carbon inlays, a titanium spacer and clip, and a zirconium pivot and thumb studs. Dylan hand grinds every blade that leaves the shop.

How to say it

Bikkhu is pronounced BEE COO.

Hand ground, one at a time

Dylan grinds every Bikkhu bevel by hand on a belt sander, setting lockup to a scribe line. As he puts it, a lot of makers believe the soul of the knife is in the bevel, and that is where his blood, sweat, and tears go. Building one means assembling and disassembling the same knife something like a hundred times before it ships.

Zirconium accents

Hypercut turns the pivot and thumb studs on this serial from zirconium, a material Dylan works with often. Zirconium takes a deep, warm tone that sets it apart from the titanium frame and the gray Fat Carbon inlays.

Made in North Carolina

Dylan started Hypercut with one used 1996 mill he bought off Facebook Marketplace and wired in himself. That machine still runs. Asked why he builds in America, his answer was short: because that is where he lives. Small American shops turning out work like this are exactly why we do what we do.

Why this one stands out

A serialized, hand-ground S45VN flipper with a titanium frame, gray Fat Carbon, and zirconium hardware. One of one.
