A hand ground S45VN flipper from a small North Carolina shop.

The Bikkhu is Hypercut MFG's titanium frame lock flipper, machined by Dylan and his crew in Mills River, North Carolina. Serial 0238 runs a CPM-S45VN blade in a green anodized titanium frame with milled slot cutouts, a flipper tab that runs blue into green, and a blue anodized pivot and thumb stud.

How to Say It

Bikkhu is pronounced BIC-oo. Think of the pen, Bic, with an oo on the end.

The Colorway

Green frame with a row of milled slots down the length of it, and a flipper tab anodized in a gradient from blue through green. Anodizing titanium is a chemical process, and a gradient like that one means the maker pulled the part through the bath rather than dunking it. It cannot be repeated exactly.

The blue pivot and thumb stud pick up the cool end of the tab. This is the only green Bikkhu in the batch.

Hand Ground, One at a Time

Dylan grinds every Bikkhu bevel by hand on a belt sander, setting lockup to a scribe line. As he puts it, a lot of makers believe the soul of the knife is in the bevel, and that is where his blood, sweat, and tears go. Building one means assembling and disassembling the same knife something like a hundred times before it ships.

Made in North Carolina

Dylan started Hypercut with one used 1996 mill he bought off Facebook Marketplace and wired in himself. That machine still runs. Asked why he builds in America, his answer was short: because that is where he lives.

Why This One Stands Out

The only green Bikkhu here, with a gradient tab that will not be repeated. One of one.
