A machined titanium bolt action pen from Hypercut MFG.

The Nackt is Hypercut MFG's precision bolt action pen, machined in Mills River, North Carolina. It runs a Pilot G2 refill in a titanium body with a titanium tip and clip, at 5.5 inches and 1.4 ounces. The bolt action has a smooth, acoustic click that makes it as much a fidget as a writer.

Made to be used

Dylan builds pens on the same idea behind everything else in the shop. In his words, items meant to be used get appreciated more than anything, because every time you pull one out for a task you get a second to appreciate it. The Hypercut name sits in tiny type on the edge of the clip, with USA on the other side.

I will preface this review with the fact this is my first U.S. titanium pen purchase so I was not sure what to expect. After watching the LSKS tour of Hypercut MFG, I wanted to show some support and liked the colors of this Nackt. I have had it on my desk and used it every day since receiving it. I have XXL hands and besides like the colors, I appreciate the thicker circumference. On to a few niggles. I am having trouble dicerning if it is the spring or an internal finishing issue that causes my copy to have an almost zipper-esque sound when actuating the bolt. Regardless of my efforts the design of the clip and how it attaches to the bolt causes the clip to rotate and not stay straight. My copy also has some finishing inconsistencies some within the machining itself and some possibly from the annodization process. Overall I still enjoy it, but would like to see some improvements if they continue the product line. Personally I would like to see the clip issue corrected and the texturing redone to give a little better traction when in use.
