MachineWise Sonora. Serial 2398. Tested at 61.1 HRC.

The Sonora is MachineWise's first folding knife, built by a five person team in Phoenix, Arizona. Every one is CNC machined in house, serialized, and individually Rockwell tested before it ships.

This one is serial 2398, assembled by A.D., final QC by GH, dated October 7, 2026. Its blade measured 61.1 HRC on its own Rockwell test.

Integral Means One Piece

This is the part that separates the Sonora from the Mojave. Where the Mojave is built as two slabs sandwiched together, the Sonora's entire frame is machined from a single block of Grade 5 titanium.

That takes the assembly down to two screws plus the pivot. Fewer parts means fewer places for tolerance to stack up, and it is also a far more expensive way to make a knife, because most of that titanium block ends up as chips on the shop floor.

Every Knife Gets Tested

MachineWise Rockwell tests each blade individually rather than testing a batch and printing the number on every card. That is why the card on this knife reads 61.1 and the one next to it reads something else.

It ships with that QC card plus a certificate of authenticity confirming the steel composition, so the hardness claim on this listing is a measurement from this blade and not a specification sheet.

S90V

S90V is a high vanadium powder steel, and edge retention is what it is for. It holds an edge far longer than most stainless, and the trade is that it takes real work to sharpen when you finally get there.

On a 0.125" blade ground thin, that combination makes sense. There is not much steel to work through at the edge.

What Comes in the Box

MachineWise ships the Sonora in their biscuit tin, with a T15 driver, a sample of Carbon Honey Thin lubricant, the QC card and COA, and a maintenance card. The whole thing is backed by an unconditional lifetime warranty.

Why This One Stands Out

An integral titanium frame, a button lock on a bushing pivot, and a hardness number that belongs to this blade alone.
