The unmistakable Amphibian, finally scaled for easier everyday carry.

The Microtech Amphibian Mini Ram-Lok takes the flowing lines and substantial ergonomics of the original Amphibian and condenses them into a much more compact manual folder.

This version pairs a 3.25" stonewashed M390MK blade with a black aluminum handle machined in Microtech’s Frag pattern. At 7.72" overall, it keeps the personality of the full-size Amphibian while landing in a size that should make sense for a lot more pockets.

And like the rest of Microtech’s RAM-LOK lineup, it is made right here in the USA.

The Amphibian Goes Mini

The original Amphibian is intentionally a substantial knife. The Mini keeps its recognizable profile but brings the dimensions down to something much closer to a traditional everyday folder.

You still get a 3.25" blade, enough handle for a useful grip, and the distinctive sweeping shape that makes an Amphibian immediately recognizable.

For anyone who liked the original design but found the full-size version larger than they wanted to carry every day, this is a very interesting addition to Microtech’s lineup.

Black Frag Aluminum

This is not the lightweight polymer configuration I previously described.

The 137MRL-10FR uses a black aluminum handle with Microtech’s machined Frag pattern.

The repeating geometric machining adds meaningful texture while giving the handle more visual depth than a standard slab-sided configuration. Aluminum also gives the Mini a distinctly solid, premium feel while maintaining the clean machining Microtech is known for.

M390MK

The blade is made from Bohler M390MK, Microtech’s customized version of M390 developed with Bohler.

M390MK has become a staple across Microtech’s current American-made lineup, offering the corrosion resistance, edge retention, and premium stainless performance expected from the M390 family.

The stonewashed finish complements the Amphibian Mini especially well, giving the blade a clean working finish that should disguise everyday marks better than a high-polish treatment.

RAM-LOK

The RAM-LOK gives the Amphibian Mini a manual, bar-lock-style operating system designed for ambidextrous use.

It has become an important part of Microtech’s expanding manual-folder lineup, allowing the company to bring models like the MSI, Stitch, Amphibian, and now Amphibian Mini into a format that feels very different from the OTF automatics Microtech is traditionally known for.

A More Accessible Amphibian

One of the most interesting things about this configuration is the price.

At $274 MSRP, you’re getting a USA-made Microtech with M390MK, a machined aluminum handle, Frag milling, and RAM-LOK construction.

That makes the Amphibian Mini an appealing way into one of Microtech’s most distinctive manual designs without moving into the more expensive titanium or specialty-finished configurations.

Made in the USA

Microtech lists the Amphibian Mini as Made in the USA.

That matters at Lone Star Knife & Supply. We don’t always have an American-made option in the things we buy, but pocket knives are one of the categories where American manufacturing is still thriving.

If we want companies to keep designing, machining, and building products here, supporting knives like this today is how we make sure they continue doing it tomorrow.

Why This One Stands Out

The Amphibian Mini feels like Microtech listening to what a lot of knife people wanted.

Take the personality of the Amphibian, keep the premium materials and RAM-LOK platform, then bring the dimensions down to 3.25" of blade and 7.72" overall.

Add the black Frag-machined aluminum and stonewashed M390MK, and this may be one of the easiest Amphibians yet to work into an everyday rotation.
