This is a Microtech Ultratech Gen III ZBP in the single edge, all black tactical configuration, set apart by a deep engraved USA flag on the handle. The Ultratech is Microtech's flagship out-the-front automatic, and this one runs the Zero Blade Play version of the platform.
The Ultratech has been Microtech's flagship OTF since 1999, and it set the standard for out-the-front autos. It is a double-action automatic, so the same thumb slide fires the blade out and pulls it back in. The spring sits at rest when the knife is open or closed, which is part of why the action stays consistent over years of use.
The single edge drop point is Bohler M390MK, the steel Microtech uses across most of its current lineup. It holds an edge and resists corrosion well, and it handles daily carry and cutting without much fuss. Here it comes in a black finish to match the tactical handle.
ZBP stands for Zero Blade Play, Microtech's system for taking the small amount of wiggle out of the deployed blade. On a ZBP Ultratech the blade fires and locks with no rattle, which is the main thing that separates this version from a standard Ultratech.
This is the all black tactical build, with a black blade and a black anodized aluminum handle. The rear side of the handle, opposite the Microtech claw, carries a deep engraved USA flag milled into the aluminum. It gives the knife some character without changing how it carries.
Microtech builds the Ultratech in Mills River, North Carolina. American shops turning out machining and action at this level is a big part of why we carry what we do, and supporting the companies doing it is how we get more of it.
Quantities are limited. You are getting the flagship Ultratech in the Zero Blade Play version, single edge, all black, with a deep engraved USA flag, made in the USA.
