The r2b2 is the newest lanyard bead from Nice Guy Machine Co. Archie designed, machined, and finished it in his one man shop in North Carolina, and he considers it the best bead he has made. Each one ships with 12 inches of 275 lb paracord and an NGMCo. sticker, so it is ready to go on your knife or pry out of the bag.

Where It Came From

Archie keeps a lot of projects going at once and waits for the moment one of them clicks. The r2b2 clicked while he was working on the checkmEight, a single finger knuck. He had used an inset bridge on his Stubbs pry bar and was carrying it into the checkmEight when he realized he could offset that bridge to make a two strand bead. He paired it with the captive knot recess from his BNo1, the bead that made his name in lanyard hardware.

Two Strand, Captive Knot

Two strands through the body means the bead sits square on the lanyard instead of spinning or sliding. The captive knot recess tucks the knot inside the bead so nothing hangs loose to snag. The result is minimal to look at and complicated to make, which is the combination Archie was after. Durable, non marring, and small enough to disappear on a lanyard.

Ultem Duration U1000

It is machined from Ultem Duration U1000, a high performance engineering thermoplastic. Ultem is tough and heat resistant, and it will not mar the knife it hangs next to the way a metal bead can. In amber it is translucent, so light comes through it and gives the rootbeer color its depth.
