Chad Nichols Damascus
Chad Nichols is one of the few damascus makers whose name sells a knife on its own. Boomerang is his pattern where the layers are manipulated during forging into repeating curved chevrons, and because the figure develops through the billet rather than being applied to it, no two blades come out the same.
A Nichols blade on a production automatic is not a common combination. This is why the custom costs what it does.
Aluminum Bronze
Aluminum bronze is a copper alloy, heavier than aluminum and warmer in color, and it patinas with handling. Weave texturing it gives the surface somewhere to catch light and somewhere to darken over time, so the handle will not look like this in a year.
Black Lip Pearl
Black lip pearl is shell from the black lipped oyster, darker and more iridescent than white pearl, shifting green and blue depending on the angle. Against bronze it is the right call. White pearl would have fought the warmth.
Thirty Made
Pro-Tech produced 30 of Custom 004. That is small enough that most dealers never saw one, and because the damascus figures differently on every blade, no two of the thirty match anyway.
Automatic knives are restricted in some places, so check your state and local law before you order.
