Pro-Tech and Prometheus Design Werx, now with the steel safety.

The Invictus is Pro-Tech's collaboration with Prometheus Design Werx, built around a 3.47 inch spear point in MagnaCut on a black hard anodized aluminum chassis. The push button is red G10 against an otherwise blacked out knife, and a steel slide safety sits right behind it.

The Steel Safety

Pro-Tech flags this as new on their own sheet, and on an automatic it is worth flagging. The slide sits directly behind the push button and locks it out, so the blade does not fire in a pocket or a pack.

A safety is only useful if you trust it, which is the whole argument for making it steel.

Why the Button Is Red

Everything else on this knife is black. The handle is hard anodized, the clip is DLC coated, the hardware is dark. The one piece of color is the G10 button, which is also the one piece you have to find without looking at it.

That is not decoration. On a blacked out knife in bad light, a red button is the fastest thing on it to locate.

The Spear Point

A spear point puts the tip on the centerline of the blade with the edge rising to meet it, so the point is supported from both sides rather than one. You give up a little belly against a drop point and you get a tip that takes abuse.

MagnaCut

MagnaCut gives you edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance without trading any of the three away. Pro-Tech built the Invictus with military and law enforcement carry in mind, and corrosion resistance is the property that earns its place in that job.
