The smooth operator, improved. In brass.
The Rivery MFG Zero Agent Newton takes the clean, untextured philosophy of the Smooth Operator and adds the one thing it was missing: a tactile grip section on the back of the body that tells your thumb exactly where it is without looking. Slide the scale forward to deploy, pull back to retract. The Agent Newton makes that motion more deliberate and more reliable by giving you a surface reference you can feel in a pocket, on a belt, or in low light.
This version is brass. Not aluminum. Brass carries heavier, warmer, and develops a natural patina with every deployment that makes your specific knife visibly different from every other Agent Newton in circulation. A utility knife that ages distinctly is a utility knife you actually notice.
The Zero is three pieces. No screws. The internal mechanism is geometry and a beefy key and spring that snap the blade shut with a click that is genuinely hard to describe to someone who hasn't felt it. Standard utility blades, available anywhere, swap in and out without tools. Machined lanyard hole included. Designed by Michael Sayers and assembled in Sevierville, Tennessee.
Note from Lone Star Knife & Supply: The Agent Newton is the version of the Zero we have been waiting for. The Smooth Operator is a beautiful carry piece but the completely untextured surface means you have to look at it to orient it before deploying. The tactile grip section on the Agent Newton fixes that. In brass, with the weight and patina that comes with it, this is the version of the Zero that becomes a personal object the longer you carry it. No two will age the same way.
Why This Zero Agent Newton Stands Out
- Smooth Operator base design with a tactile grip section on the back for confident deployment by feel
- Brass construction, heavier and warmer than aluminum, develops a natural patina unique to each knife
- Screwless design, three-piece body held together by geometry
- Satisfying click and snap on retraction from the beefy key and spring mechanism
- Takes standard replaceable utility blades, available anywhere
- Machined lanyard hole
- Designed by Michael Sayers, assembled in Sevierville, Tennessee
The Science Behind the Name
Newton's third law: every action has an equal and opposite reaction. The Agent Newton pattern puts that principle to work. The tactile grip section on the back of the body gives your thumb a surface to push against when deploying the blade forward. The opposing force is no longer just friction — it's intentional geometry. You push forward on the scale, your thumb anchors against the textured rear section, and the deployment is cleaner, more controlled, and more repeatable than anything the smooth-faced Zeros could offer. It is a small change in the physical design with a meaningful difference in how the knife feels to use. Michael Sayers named it for the law it applies.
