The micarta

These are natural canvas micarta, and that is the appeal. Micarta soaks up hand oils and darkens with carry, so the scales slowly take on a patina specific to how you use the knife. Two of these will not look the same after a year in the pocket, and the texture grips well wet or dry.

CruWear

CPM CruWear is a tough tool steel with strong edge retention. It is semi-stainless, so it holds up better than a straight carbon steel while still taking on some character over time. A quick wipe now and then keeps it happy.
