Made One at a Time

These are hand made, so the numbers run close rather than exact. Figure on about a 4 inch blade at roughly 8.5 inches overall, with a handle that gives you a full four finger grip. Grady does the grinding, the handle work, and the finishing himself, which is why no two come out identical.

O1 Tool Steel

O1 is a carbon tool steel that takes a keen edge and comes back sharp with very little effort on a stone. It is not stainless, so it will patina with use and wants to be kept dry and waxed. The darkened stonewash finish adds some protection and hides the marks that come with using a knife, and the wax tin in the box is there for exactly that job.

Red and Black G10

G10 is layered glass fiber in resin, harder and more weather proof than micarta. Layering red under black means the contours cut through to red where the handle was shaped, so the color follows the shape of the grip rather than sitting on top of it.

Kydex Sheath

Kydex is the low maintenance option. It holds the knife with a positive click, does not care about water, and is easy to rinse out after a messy job.

About Shady Grady EDC

Grady Jarman is a retired professional firefighter who makes knives and turns pens part time in Wilmington, North Carolina. This is a one man shop, and the output is small on purpose.

Why This One Stands Out

Red and black on a darkened blade is the sharpest looking build in this batch, and G10 with Kydex makes it the easiest one to actually put to work.
