Sal Glesser turned a Maserati Birdcage frame into a folding knife.
The Edgerati's skeletonized handle is machined from solid aircraft-grade aluminum, inspired by the tubular frame of the classic birdcage Maserati, and hardcoat anodized black. The open frame is not just for looks, it lets you see the Compression Lock working and drops weight off a knife this size.
The blade is a 3.57 inch CPM S30V drop point with a black DLC coating and a full flat grind, running 58 to 61 HRC. There is a textured finger choil so you can choke up for close work.

The design story
Sal Glesser is a car guy, and the Edgerati is where that shows. The pierced geometry echoes the way an old race-car frame carried strength with almost no material, which is exactly what the aluminum handle does here.
Why this one stands out
A functional piece of design that still works as a hard-use EDC, all black and machined in Colorado.
We carry it because it is made by Spyderco in Golden, and it is one of the more interesting things they build.
Proudly carrying American
