Why Not Metal

Most lanyard beads are brass, copper, or titanium, and all three are harder than the anodizing on a knife handle. A bead swinging against a pocket clip leaves marks on whatever it lands on.

Delrin does not. It is an acetal with a naturally slick surface, tough enough to take years of handling and soft enough that it will not mar what it touches. At a tenth of an ounce it also does not drag on a lanyard the way a metal bead does.

The Internal Knot Pocket

The cord outlet is 0.225 inches and the knot opening above it is 0.3125 inches. That difference is the entire design.

Your knot sits up inside the bead rather than bunched underneath it, so the lanyard hangs clean, the bead sits flush against the cord, and the knot is not the first thing to wear.

Tapered on Purpose

The body runs 0.5 inches across the top and 0.6 at the base, so it widens as it goes down. Your fingers find the wide end without looking, which is what you want on something you are pulling out of a pocket.

What Comes With It

Each BD001 ships with roughly 12 inches of Atwood Rope MFG 275 cord, which is made in the USA, a Stevens Tool Co sticker sourced locally in Fort Worth, Texas, and a certificate of authenticity. It arrives in a capsule Samuel designed and 3D prints himself.

About Stevens Tool Co.

Samuel Stevens started Stevens Tool Co in Texas in early 2026. Before EDC he worked as a guitar amplifier technician at a Fort Worth amp shop, repairing, designing, and building tube amps. He collected knives on the side, took a job at a large knife store, and used the connections he built in the EDC industry to get his own designs off the ground.

Everything is designed and finished in house. Machining goes out to American shops until he can buy the equipment to bring it under his own roof, which is the plan. In his words, keeping manufacturing in the United States matters to him.

Machined in Haslet, Texas

The BD001 is machined in Haslet and finished by hand, which puts it a short drive from our shop.

Not much on this site is made that close to home.
