This is a McNees Dixon with a 3.75 inch MagnaCut blade in Blue Atomic Stonewash.

What Atomic Actually Is

Atomic is McNees' own finish, applied in house, and it is the thing that makes their knives recognizable across a table. It runs in several colorways including stonewash, bronze, green, purple and gray, and it goes on the frames and often the blade so the whole knife reads as one piece. Blue Atomic Stonewash is the version here.

Worth being clear about, because the names get mixed up. Atomic is a finish. Frag, Jigged, Fastback, Swerve and Shockwave are milling patterns. They are different things and a McNees can have one, the other, or both.

The Dixon

The Dixon is the larger folder in the McNees lineup and at 3.75 inches it is a serious knife. It runs a framelock with thumb hole deployment.

MagnaCut

MagnaCut gives you edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance without trading any of the three, which is why it took over the custom folder market in about two years.

About McNees

Jonathan McNees started making knives in 2008 on a self built grinder run off an extension cord from the house. It is a family business now, with his wife Amy on the business side and their adult children working part time. The Performance Machined line exists because he wanted a more affordable knife that was still made in the USA, and all the pattern milling is done in his own shop.
