CopperMai, and What the Blue Does

CopperMai is a Baker Forge pattern that lays copper between the steel layers. When the blade gets hot blued, the steel takes the blue and the copper does not, so the pattern separates instead of blending. You get blue and copper reading against each other down the length of the blade rather than the grey on grey most Damascus shows.

It is a finish you look at rather than one you hide. That is the point of the Marfione Select line.

The Combat Troodon

This is the biggest out the front Microtech builds. Four inches of blade, nine and a half overall, and the dual action slide fires it out and pulls it back in. The Gen III refinements brought the wider X-Button and the Torx hardware, which makes the action smoother and the knife easier to keep up.

The Tanto

The tanto puts a second shorter edge at the front at an angle to the primary one, so the point is backed by more steel than a drop point leaves. You give up some belly for slicing. On a four inch blade that is a trade most people take.

Damascus and Care

Damascus is not stainless. The pattern comes from different steels welded together and etched, and that same difference means it will spot if you leave it wet or sweat on it and walk away. Wipe it down, keep a light oil on it, and it stays the way it looks now.

An Automatic

Out the front automatics are restricted in a number of states and cities. Worth checking your state and local law before you order.
