Two legends. One automatic. The Redencion in black, carried and used.
The Chaves x Pro-Tech Redencion 229 is what happens when Ramon Chaves brings his design sensibility to Pro-Tech's coil spring automatic platform. Ramon is best known for the Redencion manual folder, one of the most respected production knives of the last decade. Pro-Tech brought the out-the-side automatic action, the tolerances, and the California manufacturing. The result is a full-size automatic folder with a design pedigree that most autos cannot claim.
This version runs the TREAD textured black aluminum handle, a grip pattern that provides traction without the aggressive feel of milling or stippling. Against it: a 3.375" stonewash tanto S35VN blade, satin hardware, a black lip pearl button, and a DLC black steel skull clip that is milled and detailed in a way that turns a functional component into a design statement. The skull clip is the detail that makes this version recognizable. The stonewash tanto is the blade that makes it worth carrying. S35VN at the tanto geometry gives you a reinforced tip for penetrating cuts with a long secondary edge that handles general utility without compromise.
Pro-Tech's coil spring automatic fires with authority. The button lock secures both open and closed. At 4.45 oz and 7.875" overall, the Redencion carries with the weight of a serious knife without being cumbersome.
Note from Lone Star Knife and Supply: The skull clip on this knife is one of the better design details in the Pro-Tech lineup. It is not subtle, and it does not try to be. The TREAD handle and stonewash tanto keep the rest of the knife grounded and purposeful, which makes the clip work as a contrast rather than a gimmick. This one has been carried and cut, which means someone trusted it enough to make it their daily automatic. The next owner gets a proven knife at a Back Door price.

Why You'll Want It
The Redencion 229 is the automatic folder that knife people actually want. Ramon Chaves designed the handle geometry. Pro-Tech built the action. The skull clip, the black lip pearl button, and the stonewash tanto make this particular configuration one of the more visually interesting versions of the platform. It has been carried because it performs. The Back Door price reflects honest use on a knife that still has a lot of carry left in it.
