A Squire V2 from Dean at Severed Metal Works, in Stealth Gray Gunkote over tan and red G10.
The Squire V2 is a compact fixed blade in 8670 high carbon, made one at a time in a small shop in Northern Alabama. Handles and finishes change from serial to serial, so this tan and red G10 on Stealth Gray is specific to number 010. Look the photos over before you buy.
Condition
Used, and the Gunkote on the tip shows some wear. That is worth saying plainly, and it is also the easiest thing on this list to fix. Every Severed Metal Works knife carries Lifetime Blacksmith Benefits, which covers free repairs and refinishing for the life of the knife. Dean will put the coating right at no charge. You cover shipping to the shop and back. No box.

Why This One Stands Out
- Serialized, and V2 serials restarted at 1, so 010 is early in the run
- 8670 high carbon with an in house heat treat
- Handle and finish combination unique to this serial
- Lifetime repairs and sharpening from the maker
8670 and Why a Carbon Steel
8670 is a tough low alloy carbon steel. It will not hold an edge as long as a powder stainless, and it is not stainless at all, so it wants to be wiped down and kept dry. What it gives you in return is toughness. It takes a very fine edge easily, it sharpens on almost anything, and it bends before it chips. On a small fixed blade meant to be used rather than admired, that is the right trade.
Buying From a Maker Who Is Still Early
Dean has made fewer than a hundred knives. The V2 is where he restarted the serials after moving to 8670, bringing heat treatment in house, and reworking how he sharpens. You are buying a knife from a maker in the middle of getting good, and the lifetime guarantee behind it is him betting on himself.
