Back Door Entry. Demo unit. Used for promotional content with our partners.

This is a Tactile Knife Co. Ranger Blackwash that served as one of our demo units. It went in front of cameras for promotional content made with our partners, and it got handled at shows so people could feel the walk and talk for themselves. It has done light cutting during filming, the kind of thing you would do to show a knife works. Think paracord. Nothing that affects the blade. It was never sold to a customer and it was never carried as somebody's daily knife.

It is priced 15% under our regular listing because it is not factory fresh and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

What Demo Condition Means Here

Expect handling marks consistent with a knife that has been opened and closed a great many times and passed between hands. Any cutting it has done was light and incidental to filming. The edge is sound, the blade is undamaged, and there is no fall damage. The action is if anything better than new, since a slipjoint this tight benefits from being worked in.

If you want to see what it has been through, it is in our videos.

The Ranger

The Ranger is Tactile's slipjoint, designed with Jared Oeser, and it is the knife that made a lot of modern folder people take slipjoints seriously. Jared gave it a Bowie blade shape and a pivot design that nods to the name, which came from his neighbor, an Army Ranger who saw the first prototype.

The pull is set to a 6 to 7, which is the range slipjoint people actually want. Firm enough that it snaps, not so heavy that it fights you. That walk and talk is the entire reason to own one of these rather than a locking folder.

Blackwash Titanium

The blackwash finish darkens the titanium and gives it a weathered look while leaving the material exactly as tough as it was. On a demo knife this works in your favor. A blackwash finish hides handling far better than a polished or satin one does.

How It Is Built

Every blade, backspring, and handle is hand ground for fit. The knife is then taken apart, marked, and finished so the original components go back together with each other rather than with whatever came off the next bench. That is custom shop practice on a production knife, and it is why these cost what they cost.
