This is one of the NEUTRON 2 configurations TRM brought to Blade Show West in Salt Lake City. It is not a show exclusive, it is one of the versions people walk up to the TRM table asking for by name, and we brought one back.

Camo Carbon 3D

Camo Carbon is an American made carbon fiber composite built by stacking colored layers into the weave. On its own it looks like a flat panel. The pattern only appears once TRM mills the scale into a 3D contour, because the cutter steps down through the layers and exposes them as topographic lines.

That means the figure on this scale is a map of how deep the machine went. No two scales come out identical, and the neon orange runs hot against the black.

MagnaCut at Three Inches

MagnaCut gives you edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance without giving up any of the three. On 0.090 inch stock with a full flat grind, there is very little steel behind the edge, which is the whole reason this knife cuts the way it does.

TRM runs it at 60 to 61 HRC, which is where MagnaCut does its best work.

Pocketed Titanium Liners

The liners are 6AL/4V titanium, pocketed to take weight out without giving up rigidity. They also carry the whole knife structurally, which is why the scales come off with a couple of screws and no pivot work.

TRM sells a long list of scales for this frame. If you get tired of neon orange in two years, you change it in a few minutes.

Two and a Half Ounces

At 2.5 oz and 4 inches closed, the NEUTRON 2 is the compact end of the TRM lineup, the little brother to the ATOM. It is the size where you stop deciding whether to bring a knife.
