Blade Show West exclusive. Made for the show, in a run that ends when the show does.

Heretic built this Martyr for Blade Show West in Salt Lake City. One side of the blade carries the Utah beehive inside a hexagon, the other carries the Heretic logo, and a mountain range runs across the chassis and continues around both sides of the knife.

Why a Beehive

The beehive has stood for Utah since before Utah was a state. Early settlers took it as their emblem for the idea of a whole community working without anyone having to be told to, and the state motto they landed on was one word: Industry.

Putting that on a knife built by a shop that machines everything itself, in a country that mostly stopped doing that, is a better fit than most show graphics manage. The hexagon around it is the honeycomb cell the whole symbol is built from.

The Mountains

The range runs across the chassis and does not stop at the edge. It carries around to the other side, so the knife reads as one continuous piece of art rather than two panels that happen to face opposite directions. That is harder to lay out than it sounds and it is the detail you notice when you turn it over.

MagnaCut at This Price

MagnaCut usually shows up on knives well north of $300. Heretic got it onto the Martyr by building the chassis from glasspack polymer instead of machined aluminum or titanium, which takes the cost out of the handle and leaves the money in the blade. The internals are hardened stainless, which is where a cheap knife would have cut the corner.

The Numbers Work Out

3.4 inches of blade at 8.3 inches overall, and 3.8 ounces on the scale. A full size folder under four ounces is the difference between a knife you carry and a knife you leave on the dresser. The handle runs 4.9 inches, so you get a real four finger grip.

Button Lock, Two Ways to Open

The flipper tab and the thumb cutout both work, so you can open it however your hand wants to. The button lock closes it one handed either way.

Made in Florida

Heretic designs, engineers, and assembles every knife in house at their Melbourne, Florida facility, and backs all of it with a lifetime warranty. We toured the shop and watched the process firsthand.

Why This One Stands Out

Show exclusives are the only Heretics that do not come back. There is no second run of this one, no restock, and no other finish of it coming later.
