The Martyr is back. Heretic pulled it years ago, and it returns as a manual folder built around a 3.4 inch MagnaCut tanto on a glasspack polymer chassis. This is the All Black Tactical, blacked out from blade to clip.

MagnaCut at This Price

This is the thing to understand about the Martyr. MagnaCut usually shows up on knives well north of $300, and Heretic put it on a folder starting at $199. The way they got there was the chassis. Glasspack polymer instead of machined aluminum or titanium takes the cost out of the handle and leaves the money in the blade, which is the right place for it if you actually cut things.

The Numbers Work Out

3.4 inches of blade at 8.3 inches overall, and 3.8 ounces on the scale. A full size folder that weighs less than four ounces is the difference between a knife you carry and a knife you leave on the dresser. The handle runs 4.9 inches, so you get a real four finger grip rather than a compromise.

Button Lock, Two Ways to Open

The flipper tab and the thumb cutout both work, so you can open it however your hand wants to. The button lock closes it one handed with the same motion either way. Internals are hardened stainless rather than polymer, which is where a cheap knife would have cut the corner.

All Black Tactical

Black blade, black chassis, nothing bright anywhere on it. This is the Martyr for people who do not want a knife to be noticed coming out of a pocket, and it is the configuration that tends to move first every time Heretic runs it.

Made in Florida

Heretic designs, engineers, and assembles every knife in house at their Melbourne, Florida facility. We toured the shop and watched the process firsthand.

Why This One Stands Out

If you have wanted a Heretic and the price has always been the reason you did not buy one, this is the answer. Same steel, same shop, same warranty, at the lowest entry point the brand has.
