Deep East Texas roots. Forty years of carry experience. One blade built to cut.
Video: Instagram
Neil Warren of Maximus Knives has been carrying a knife every day for forty years. He grew up as an Eagle Scout in the Deep East Texas woods, learned early what a working blade actually needs to do, and spent decades refining those instincts before he started making knives professionally. The Mamba design came out of all of that accumulated time in the field. It is not a blade shape borrowed from a historical pattern or a popular trend. It is what Neil arrived at after carrying knives long enough to know exactly what he wanted.
The Big Mamba is the largest blade in the Mamba family, running approximately 4" of 80CrV2 carbon steel on a narrow, cutting-focused profile that Neil specifically designed to slice rather than to impress. The sabre grind reverse tanto with a Power Swedge gives you a reinforced tip, a primary bevel optimized for slicing, and a secondary swedge that takes the spine geometry further than a standard grind. Rock textured G10 scales lock the handle in your hand in any condition. Includes a USA-made Kydex sheath.

A Blade Built to Cut
The Mamba profile is a narrow, cutting-focused design built around slicing performance.
- Sabre grind puts the primary bevel exactly where it needs to be for slicing efficiency
- Power Swedge on the spine refines the tip geometry further than a standard grind
- Reverse tanto tip is reinforced and capable under penetrating loads
This is not a thick prying blade. It is a cutting blade, and it does that one thing exceptionally well.
Rock Textured G10 Handle
- Aggressive, consistent grip across the full handle
- G10 is impervious to moisture, heat, and cold
- Available in Green or Tan
80CrV2 Carbon Steel
- Exceptional toughness that handles hard use without chipping
- Takes a very sharp edge and holds it well under real field conditions
- Easy to sharpen in the field with simple abrasives
A Note on 80CrV2 Carbon Steel
80CrV2 is a carbon steel, not stainless. It will develop a patina and will rust if neglected. Wipe the blade clean and dry after use and apply a light coat of oil when storing. The toughness and edge performance are the trade-off, and for most hard-use and field carry applications, it is well worth it.
