The Para Military 2 is one of Spyderco's most carried folders, and this run pairs a 3.4 inch CPM CruWear blade in a satin finish with brown micarta scales and Spyderco's Compression Lock. It is made in Golden, Colorado.

The micarta

The brown micarta is natural, and that is the appeal. Micarta soaks up hand oils and darkens with carry, so the scales slowly take on a patina specific to how you use the knife. Two of these will not look the same after a year in the pocket, and it grips well wet or dry.

CruWear

CPM CruWear is a tough tool steel with strong edge retention. It is semi-stainless, so it holds up better than a straight carbon steel while still taking on some character over time. Wipe it down now and then and it stays happy.

The Compression Lock

The Compression Lock is one of the strongest and most user-friendly locks Spyderco makes. It closes with one hand, keeps your fingers clear of the blade path, and locks up with no play.

Made in Golden

The PM2 is made in Spyderco's Golden, Colorado factory. A folder this good coming out of a US plant is exactly the kind of American manufacturing we like carrying, and supporting it is how it keeps happening.

Why this one stands out

This is my first PM2. Purchased based on Chris's high recommendation for his copy. I came to appreciate the look of Chris's copy after use. As his micarta has "worn" in, it looks better and better, in my opinion. I'm sure in time this one will too. I was most impressed with how smooth my copy is out of the box. I'm not sure if it is just this Cruwear/Micarta copy, but other PM2s I have felt were not this smooth and felt sticky when disengaging the lock. This one does not and I am very happy with this purchase. So much so, I am considering other cruwear/micarta models.

I got the crucarta pm2 first and fell in love. I am registered nurse and youd be suprised how often you need a knife at work and the PM3 is the perfect size for me, some larger knifes tend to pull down on my scrubs, esp surgical scrubs (my wife is a nurse as well loves her pink lil native) and i think the micarta version just looks less militant at work sonits less noticeable than my all black pm2.
