The limited carbon fiber Hydra V4, in 20CV with a DLC tanto and hand flamed titanium accents.

This was a serialized small batch run, and the steel was part of what made it limited. Most Hydra V4s run MagnaCut. This one is CPM 20CV, which Heretic used on the carbon fiber release and not much else. Look the photos over before you buy.

Carbon Fiber and Weight

An OTF carries heavier than a folder of the same blade length because the chassis has to hold the spring, the slide, and the track. Going to carbon fiber is how Heretic pulled weight out of this one without making the frame flex. If you have handled an aluminum Hydra, this is the same knife with less of it in your pocket.

20CV

20CV is a powder steel with high chromium and vanadium, so you get long edge retention and real corrosion resistance. It is harder to sharpen than MagnaCut and it holds an edge a long time between sessions. On a tanto with a DLC coat, it is built to be left alone and still work when you pick it up.

The Flamed Titanium

Flaming titanium is heat, not paint or anodizing. The colors come from an oxide layer that forms as the metal heats, and the pattern depends on how the torch moved. Every button cover on this run is different because no two were heated the same way.
