Pro-Tech Knives – American Autos, Precision-Built

Pro-Tech is a family-owned California-based knife company known for its clean, snappy automatics and outstanding quality control. Whether you're picking up a limited edition or a hard-use tool, Pro-Tech delivers out-of-the-box perfection.

History

Founded in 1998 by Dave Wattenberg, Pro-Tech set out to bring aerospace machining and small-batch craftsmanship to the automatic knife world. Every knife is still built in-house at their Southern California facility, allowing the team to carefully inspect, tune, and perfect every build before it ships.

Pro-Tech has earned a cult following among collectors, military personnel, and EDC users for their blend of tight tolerances, smooth action, and tasteful design. They’ve also gained widespread respect for their collabs and limited editions—each one pushing the envelope on materials and finish work.

What They Offer

  • Automatic Folders: The TR series (TR-3, TR-4, TR-5), Godson, and Runt are top-tier push-button autos.
  • Manual Folders: Pro-Tech has recently expanded into manual knives like the Mordax, often in partnership with custom makers.
  • Collabs: Designs with Les George, Strider, and Emerson bring custom influence to their production lineup.
  • Limited Editions: Hand-anodized art knives, mother-of-pearl inlays, Damascus blades, and engraved buttons for collectors.

Made entirely in the USA, Pro-Tech knives are known for their reliable action, thoughtful design, and attention to detail—whether it’s your daily driver or a showcase piece.
